Best way to figure out how much sun my roof gets?

Looking to figure out if my house is good for solar. There are lots of trees but I think I may have enough roof area to pull off at least a small system. My first thought was to get a time-lapse camera and point it at the roof on a sunny day every few weeks to figure out how much clear area I have (and where it is.) Does anyone have a camera they can recommend? Battery powered is a plus though not essential (and the battery would have to last at least all day.)
