Roof Top Solar and Distribution Fees

Roof Top Solar and Distribution Fees

Recently purchased a new home that is not exactly in the middle of nowhere but also not in a city or housing development. Our first electric bill contained distribution fees of close to $100, while our actual bill for electricity used was about the same. The total bill coming to over $200. I've always been interested in rooftop solar if/when I bought a house. My question is how does this effect the distribution fees charged by the electric company. I'm really not clear on how that fee is calculated. Or if most of the electricity I consume is generated by my solar panels what fees will I still owe the electric company. Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this, having a tough time finding answers.
