Verifying Claims Made by Blue Raven

Hello fellow redditors. My wife and I are in the process of choosing a solar company. Our home is a good candidate for solar as it is south facing, newly built, and in a sunny state. In order to compare and contrast offers we requested quotes through Energy Sage. Additionally, we contacted a well known local installer that is not on Energy Sage.

We now have all the quotes/offers. However, one sticks out in that it only recommends a 3 KW system while everyone else recommends a 4.5-5KW system. The basis for their 3 KW system is that the installation of 6 LED bulbs and use of a smart thermostat will cut our energy use by 20 percent.

I am a bit leary to believe that claim. First, our house was built in 2017 and features all LED bulbs. Second, I am highly doubtful that a smart thermostat is going to reduce our energy consumption by that amount.

Anyone run into the same sales pitch? Any hard data to back up such a claim? When I ask Blue Raven about hard data they claim that it is based off of the thermostat companies numbers.
