Blocking diodes on parallel strings in large arrays
I'm setting up a large 6.5 kW array composed of 6 parallel strings each with 3 series panels for a per-string VOC of ~145V.
I am aware that blocking diodes are generally only considered necessary when panels are directly connected to the batteries (mine will be going to a quality charge controller of course) to prevent backfeed from the battery, and are considered not worth it even then in 12v systems because of the 0.5v drop.
In my situation, should blocking diodes be installed on each parallel string to prevent them backfeeding each other in cases of partial shading?
Is this even a concern? I'm thinking each shaded string (no blocking diodes) might manage to hold a fairly high voltage (preventing backfeed anyway) and just not have production current behind it.
