new standing seam metal roof- clamp to ribs/ rib height question

Hi all, we are looking to install a standing seam metal roof. Our roofer has recommended upgrading and getting 1 3/4 inch high ribs instead of standard 1 inch ribs. They will be 16 inches apart. He says the 1 3/4 inch ribs will allow for clamping solar panels right to the ribs without drilling, but the 1 inch will not. Of course, they are a lot more expensive, maybe 30% more, just for higher ribs. Will this really make installing panels easier? If it matters, the metal roofing is design span hp by asc building supply. Thanks!
