Charging 24v system off 12v car alternator?

Helping a friend with an undersized solar setup. Can he charge his 24v battery bank using his car (14.8v 120a alternator) and a boost mppt charge controller like the mpt-7210a? Lots of rainy days here in Puna lately and his batteries dipped below 50%...

Aurora Inverter giving E050 error randomly The message requires a reset to get the inverter working again, but it's random - may happen a couple times a day, may skip a day or two. I have checked every connection, and even inside the inverter where the DC gets connected (2 arrays running). I tried turning off each array independently, but it continued for both lines at the same frequency. The only possible point of spark generation would be the connector box on the roof, which has wirenuts from the arrays themselves to the cable to the inverter. They are tight, but I went ahead and wrapped them with silicon tape (didn't help). Could the inverter itself have a problem?
