Reconfigure solar panel to change output voltage

Can I reconfigure a 72 cell (6 x 12) panel to work as two 36 cell panels (in parallel) for a 12 volt system?

I want to connect them in parallel for maximum partial shade tolerance.

Some panels have zero information on how many diodes they have and some have diode count but no information about how they're wired.

For example, Solarworld SW345XL (specs) says "Number of bypass diodes: 3". So that's probably wired as 3 x 24 cells and won't work for me, right?

Seems I should be looking for something w/ 72 cells and 2 bypass diodes if this has any hope of working, correct?

Solar Supports

Solar Supports I'm looking at installing a solar system at our off grid cabin this spring and I'm trying to come up with a good way to get the panels up high enough to catch decent sunlight. The roof of the cabin is not an option as there are some trees blocking it but I do have a shed that I figure I'd be able to brace the supports to, I can't use the shed roof either as it's facing the wrong direction. A couple neighbors have systems which they've put on poles that go up sort of like a street lamp or flagpole style support which is an option but I thought maybe either a frame like a scaffold kind of thing secured to the back of the shed might be a more sturdy option. What have you guys used to elevate your panels on a standalone frame, or have you seen any companies that sell good kits? I'm in BC in Canada as well.
